Department of Biochemistry

Medical Biochemistry is the subspeciality of Medical Science that helps medical students to understand the biochemical process of human body such as nutrition, enzyme activity, metabolism, water, electrolyte & acid-base balance, cellular transport & signaling, hormonal regulation, molecular biology, gene expression & recombinant DNA technology etc. There is an enriched Laboratory in the Biochemistry Department at Dr. Sirajul Islam Medical College comprising necessary instruments & equipments with skilled Laboratory technician. The teaching methodology involves lecture, tutorial & practical classes, seminars, item, card, term & assessment examination of the students. Medical Biochemistry deals with the analysis of body fluids and thereby helps in the screening, diagnosis, monitoring & management of different diseases.
